METAHUMANZ -The price of immortality

The year is 2029. Humanity has achieved singularity. A majority of the population is living their lives as Metahumanz, so-called Avatar’s with their consciousness uploaded to the Metaverse. Living in a virtual reality world, 24 hours per day, only leaving their home to recharge or for food and clothes which are delivered by drones that follow you around your house like worker bees.
I suppose I should introduce myself. My name is Yoel Araya and I am an old man now at 87 years old who fights back against this new generation of technology users who have no idea how much life they are missing out on because of it all being virtually simulated! The only time these kids get off computer screens is to sleep or when they are so hungry.
I have seen first-hand how bad things got after the singularity event back in 2029. All of a sudden, all basic needs were taken care of by machines and people no longer had any need to stop playing their games for anything other than basic bodily functions. This led to a generation of unsmiling people with no social skills who were obviously miserable because what did they have left? Life has lost its meaning! It is now 2029 and an entire generation has been raised in this world where there isn’t even work or school anymore as those are all virtual classes that don’t require you to leave your home at any time.
I first began to notice this new generation of people when I was looking for an apartment in the “real world”. When I would ask to see a certain room, the real estate agent would say that it had already been rented to someone who only needed a spare bed and no living room or kitchen for their food which was delivered directly to their door. To them, there is no difference between having a friend over or playing with some random person online via avatars. People no longer know how to socialize on a deeper level anymore. They are disconnected from each other and so much has died as a result; romance, relationships and even hopes and dreams!
It’s now 2029 and nothing has changed since 2025 except for one thing. The avatars that these people live as have become much better in terms of graphics and realism since I first saw them being used back in 2025. They used to look extremely robotic, but now they are nearly indistinguishable from humans with the exception of their virtual eyes in some cases. Which is exactly why I decided to take action on August 21st 2025 against these avatar users!
I got into his house through the garage door opener he had left on his unmanned car and then used his ID card which opened up every room in his home including a very special room where he kept all of his virtual glasses in. His avatars were all stored here and when I put them on, I was instantly taken into the Metaverse where I could explore as my neighbor Jordan!
This shows me how much time I have to act before this cyber security breach gets fixed and I am caught by the police who consider me to be a terrorist that needs to be incarcerated for life.
I currently have no plan in mind, but it is obvious that if I want my message to get out about how awful avatar technology has become and how bad this new generation of youth are being affected as a result, then I need proof of what has been going on! To do this, I am currently walking around the Metaverse like Jordan would normally do on his day off from work which seems to happen every Friday. His Website does not seem particularly interesting and so far there have been no other users who have spotted me doing something suspicious as they are all too busy playing games or having conversations that are so annoyingly fake.
It is now August 27th 2025 and I am in my neighbor’s virtual apartment which is located right next to the community tennis court where all of the local kids go to play on Saturdays, but since it is a weekday there appears to be nobody here at this moment. This means that I have unlimited access to his home and can search through every single room with zero chance of getting caught for as long as I want! There was only one problem which was that he had been doing some shopping online just before I made it inside and he has ordered some pizza from www.metapizza.io which is currently being delivered by a drone that has now landed on the balcony outside.
I am going to try my best not to act in a way that might leave any traces of me behind, but I’m also going to have to eat and drink something since I need my health at this point just as much as I need proof for what is happening here! But if I do order some food from his virtual fridge, then will this mean that it will show up as an online order which might be traced back to him? Will my neighbor Jordan get into trouble because of me or will these drones allow deliveries without verifying who ordered them? Either way, there is nothing else for me to do other than see if anyone spots me before I can finish searching through all of his belongings, so I’m going to order some pizza right now…
